Two Funerals and a Wedding

The past six months have been bananas. More-than-usual bananas. WAY MORE.

I haven’t made time to post to my blog or Instagram because I’ve been harnessing, focusing, and protecting my energy in service to others — mostly in dying and death, a fair share in mediumship, and some in marriage! Yes, marriage! I am honored to “work all the portals,” as we say in juju jargon, including sacred unions.

In my private life, we have had surgeries, emergencies, hospital stays, and dying and death to navigate as well. (My work has come home a lot lately!) And we've also had great triumphs, in both our individual pursuits and our collective growth as a family.

Life has been so robust. Full. Bursting-at-the-seams full. But I can't imagine not being present for any one moment of it. That being said, I joke that I have been living inside a pinball machine. A fun, colorful one where all players win — but definitely a frenetic one, with the ball (me!) bouncing vigorously from one thing to the next with fractions of a second between.

Every morning as I rise, I remind myself that 1) I'm on Planet Earth, 2) I can only accomplish what I accomplish, and 3) Everything will be fine. More than fine. But definitely fine, at a minimum. And then I say a few prayers, take a few deep breaths, and get going again.

I know I am not alone in feeling the many big and strong but also graceful and subtle energies at play these days. We are all navigating so much. Know you are not alone — that even your trusted practitioners feel the flow — and that you really are being supported and guided for your highest and greatest good. This is the truth. Trust it.

I also joke that I have been living a real-life movie. Do you remember “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” the 1994 hit with Andie McDowell and Hugh Grant?

Well, I have been living “Two Funerals and a Wedding.” In the span of 90 days, I start-to-finish planned and delivered two funerals and officiated one wedding — my sister’s! It was one of the greatest honors of my life, and a perfect initiation into the new-life energies of spring.

Look at Mother Earth's most gorgeous altar! The wedding was stunningly beautiful. More than that, it was a tremendous celebration of love and "the human superpower of choice," which I discussed in my remarks. I adore my new brother in law Mike and his family, and I could not be happier for my dear sis.

The credits are now rolling for "Two Funerals and a Wedding," and the theatre lights are being flipped on... What movie title will my life mimic next? Do I even ask? lol

"Efficient" and Love-Based Officiating

Did you know that I am an ordained minister who can and loves to guide life’s most sacred ceremonies?

I have decades of experience in this space, and I get REALLY ENERGIZED to help others in these ways:

  • Start-to-finish ceremony creation, guidance, and delivery

  • Script writing

  • Vow writing

  • Prayer writing

  • Event planning and coordination

  • Program writing, design, and printing

  • Prayer card writing, design, and printing

  • Obituary writing

  • Hosting, emceeing, speaking

You can plug in with me for just parts, or I can do the whole thing. However you decide to work with me, I make it easy on you — as easy as humanly possible — so that you can be fully present in your sacred moment and experience the blessings meant for you as it unfolds.

During my sister’s wedding weekend, my nephew mixed up his words and called me not the officiant but the “Efficient.” We laughed and I began to correct him and then quickly caught myself. I told him that Efficient was actually correct in many ways: I serve all of my loved ones and clients as efficiently and effectively as possible. I don’t waste time, energy, love; it’s all too precious. I funnel it into your sacred ceremony instead. That’s just how I roll.

Types of ceremonies I can create and officiate:

  • Birth blessings

  • Weddings

  • Death rites*

  • Catholic Funeral Masses

  • Secular funerals

  • Celebrations of Life

  • Blessings of remains

  • Commitment of remains

*Much like a Catholic priest for last rites, I gladly make ER, ICU, and home visits for those who are critically ill and dying. The death rites that I typically conduct are based on millennia-old practices that help connect heaven and earth for greater peace and ease — for the dying and everyone who loves them. I am also totally open and available to help you create your own death rites, working with you to infuse this time with meanings that make the most sense to YOU, which is how it should be.

Here are some other super-fun things I’ve been up to that I’d love to do more of with all of you:

Offer a private workshop series to your friend group. Learn and grow together; it's really enjoyable.

Custom workshops

A friend group spread across multiple times zones engaged me to deliver "Spirit Series," a series of Zoom workshops that encourage, guide, and further activate their spirituality. Once a month, we gather for 90 minutes of energizing content, sharing, practice, laughter, and tears — and it is miraculous! Topics covered include tapping into your own sacred connection (being your own medium ;)), working with signs and synchronicities to enhance the flow of your life; and working with oracle cards and pendulums as supportive tools for discernment. It’s been an awesome ride — one I’d love to take with more of you! Please email me if you’d like to connect with me and your friends this way. Let’s do it!

Family readings

Some of the most powerful and transformative healing I’ve witnessed lately has unfolded at family readings. For your crew, I can connect with the unseen to deliver the love-based messages meant for you, shared in the company of your greatest loved ones. We meet in my space or yours — whatever is most comfortable for you. These gatherings are perfect for marking birthdays, anniversaries, death dates, or other sacred transition times. I am never NOT blown away by what unfolds in my mediumship readings, but there is something extra special about witnessing how they work with a family or friend group.

Discussion groups

Along with the gracious Meg and Mark Berry — and Glynnis!, I co-hosted discussion groups about The Telepathy Tapes, a podcast you must listen to if you haven’t already (including the bonus episodes, which feature some of the most powerful content in the series). These warm and welcoming gatherings, which oversold almost instantly, reaffirmed for me the hunger we all have for greater understanding and connection with all of our human superpowers.

Fun funerals

And at the start of the year, Lauren Ponder and I led one of my most favorite workshops yet: Putting the Fun in FUNeral. Yes, we titled it that. Yes, we mean it. Yes, it’s possible. Yes, it’s fun — when you do it with us, at least! We guided participants through our best practices for ceremony creation and remains management (specifically, the “greener” choices in burial), and participants walked away with tons of new info and inspiration, a workbook to help them organize their planning, and a host of expert support just a quick ask away. It was a convivial day that we can’t wait to offer again. Plans are in the works; stay tuned!

Event photos above are by the amazing Sarah Pewitt of Simply Kendall Photography. She is really good at what she does and super pleasant to work with. Highly recommend!

I offer now some words of wisdom that have helped me better navigate and integrate all that’s happened for me over the past six months. Maybe they will help you, too.

We begin anew every day. Constantly. Don’t forget that you can shed what’s not yours to carry, what no longer serves you, at any given moment. Choose to let it go and to let love flow in its place.

And finally, an excerpt from A Great Wagon, perhaps my favorite words by Rumi:

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,

there is a field.

I will meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,

the world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other” doesn’t make any sense.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

Don’t go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want.

Don’t go back to sleep.

People are going back and forth across the doorsill

where the two worlds touch.

The door is round and open.

Don’t go back to sleep.

With great love, always,

Amy
